Preliminary nomination of actresses in the NFDC National Film Award -

For the nomination of the National Film Award, Nepal Film Development Company (NFDC) has started publishing nominations every four months. From the 29 movies released in the last 4 months, NFDC has released the nominations for 20 different award categories. The actresses nominated for the best actress category are

Jharana Thapa, Namrata Shrestha, Neeta Dhungana, Rekha Thapa and Sumina Ghimire. - See In the best actress category, the nominations are:

Jharana Thapa from ‘Kohi Ta Chha’
Namrata Shrestha from ‘Maun’
Neeta Dhungana from ‘Urbashi’
Rekha Thapa from ‘Kali’
Sumina Ghimire from ‘Star’

In supporting actresses category, three nominations are –

Arunima Lamsal from ‘Urbashi’
Pabitra Acharya from ‘Rajneeti’
Shivangini Rana from ‘Madhumash’
In new actress category

Anju Niraula from ‘Hamri Cheli’
Komal Oli from ‘Rajneeti’
Prakriti Shrestha from ‘Hostel’
Pooja Sharma from ‘Madhumash’
Sagun Shahi from ‘Dhuwani’.

Rekha Thapa successfully screened Kali in Hong Kong

Rekha Films’ superhit movie, ‘Kali’ was successfully screened in Hong Kong on December 8, 2013. The lead actress and the producer of the movie, Rekha Thapa, watched the movie with the viewers. Rekha had gone to Hong Kong on December 3.
The Council General of Nepal in Hong Kong, Mahesh Prasad Dahal was present in the ceremony.

After the show, Rekha has stated that the screening of the movie was a "grand success" in Hong Kong.

Binita Baral – theater debut in Telling Tales

Actress Binita Baral is doing a theater play for the first time in her acting career, starting today (December 6) in Theater Village, Lazimpat. The play titled ‘Telling a Tale: Kitchen Dramas’ is about personal stories of Nepali women. In the play, gender inequalities, violence and other serious issues are said to be raised in funny way. -

The character played by Binita – Mira says:

I am abused by my husband. Last week when I said I was pregnant, he threw me to the ground and kicked me again and again until I was nearly unconscious. Will you help me to return back to Nepal?


The play runs from Friday to Sunday at Theatre Village, that is opposite to Attic Bar & Restaurant. More details on the poster below:

Namrata Sapkota wins Best Model for the Pop and Aadhunik Video award -

n the Bindabasini Music Award 2070 the actress and model, Namrata Sapkota won the Best Model for the Pop and Aadhunik Video award. The award ceremony was held on Friday, December 6, 2013 in Kathmandu. - Namrata, an actress, model and salsa dancer has done some good music videos and a movie named ‘Anataral’ as a lead actress. -
